Switching the binding to hiking mode is simply a matter of unlocking the upper part of the toe piece and rotating it forward. In uphill mode, you have the option of saving 250 grams weight per foot by removing the toe housing sections and stowing them in your backpack. It locks back into place thanks to Auto Quad-Lock technology, just by stepping into the binding, without any extra action required by the skier. With an easy-going DIN range of 1.5 to 5, this is a touring option that will let the smaller skier rock the same binding they use at the resort on family tours.

With the Alpinist, Marker delivers its lightest-ever touring binding and re-defines the ratio of weight to performance. At 490 grams per pair, it takes the traditional PinTech design and adds functionality with zero degrees, 5 degrees, and 9-degrees climbing aid positions. The heel features a fixed upward release and an adjustable lateral release function, and a 15mm range of adjustment. Available accessories include 90mm, 105mm, and 115mm brakes, Touring leashes, and U-Springs that allow adjustment of the upward release in the heel.
